Summer Angevin, MA, PhD

Dr. Summer Angevin (PSB94022399), or Dr. Summer as everyone knows her, is a LGBTQ-affirmative Clinical Psychotherapist that is bilingual in Spanish. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. Dr. Summer is warm, charismatic, willing to meet the clients where they are and will kindly challenge them to realize their full potential. Her expertise in diversity lends to her ability to consider multicultural factors such as accessibility, education, values, and sexual orientation while supporting clients to explore triggers and coping tools for addiction and mental health symptoms. Dr. Summer’s clinical approach is through evidence-based practices like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Systems Therapy, but her relatable delivery of clinical information is what tends to stick with the clients. She strives to empower the client to not only have tools, but know how and when to use them. While Dr. Summer is trained in several modalities, her focus remains to assist clients to better understand their experiences (mentally and emotionally) and what they can do about them. Dr. Summer also conducts psychodiagnostics assessments, which have helped many clients to better understand the way in which they learn and process information, their strengths and areas of growth (verbal comprehension, processing speed, perceptual reasoning, and working memory),and possible challenges and barriers to learning. These assessments have been used as supporting information for school IEP’s, educational accommodations, to better inform clinical diagnoses, and most importantly, to improve the experience of the person. Dr. Summer is currently working as a registered psychological assistant under the supervision of Dr. Elena Bagourdi, collecting post-doctoral hours towards licensure..
