About Raleigh Perkins, MA, PhD

Dr. Raleigh is a registered psychologist, educated at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA with additional post-graduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from The Psychoanalytic Center of California. Dr. Raleigh’s professional experience has been focused in a variety of clinical settings over the past 10 years, from residential and outpatient community-based treatment centers to private practice. Working with a diverse range of individuals in one-on-one and group therapy environments, Dr. Raleigh has assisted clients needing treatment for substance abuse, personality disorders, and other clinical issues including posttraumatic stress and developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, creative blocks and cognitive disabilities, as well as attachment and relationship difficulties.

Dr. Raleigh’s dissertation addressed correlations between attachment theory, or the psychobiological basis of human bonding, and addictive processes. Knowledge gained through her academic work further informs her client-centered approach to treatment in highlighting the therapeutic process as essentially co-creative – developing through the client’s sense of safety and containment in relationship as well as structured by mutual respect and openness for working through mental health difficulties toward balance, resilience, and wholeness for a more fulfilling, purposeful, and integrated life.

Dr. Raleigh is currently a pre-licensed clinical psychologist working under the supervision of Dr. Jacob Adal and also holds a Masters in Environmental Design from Yale University and has practiced and taught architectural design, history of art and urban planning in New York and Rome, Italy. Her previous academic work remains an influence in her approach as a clinician and depth psychologist, particularly with regard to her commitment and attention to building community as integral to, and reflective of, society’s collective health.
